The gastrointestinal surgery unit at Paideia International Hospital has two dedicated operating theatres and offers traditional and minimally-invasive treatment for malignant and functional disorders of the gastrointestinal tract (oesophagus and stomach), the colon and the rectum.
The main diseases treated by the gastrointestinal surgery unit are:
- Cancers of the oesophagus, stomach, small intestine, colon, rectum and anal canal and secondary cancers of the peritoneum
- Benign oesophageal conditions (gastro-oesophageal reflux disease, oesophageal hiatus hernia, achalasia, esophageal diverticula)
- Hereditary gastrointestinal syndromes (Lynch syndrome/HNPCC/hereditary nonpolyposis colorectal cancer, hereditary adenomatous polyposis, Peutz-Jeghers syndrome, juvenile polyposis, hereditary pancreatic cancer, hereditary gastric cancer) peritoneal carcinomatosis
- Calculi of the gallbladder and the biliary tract
- Benign and inflammatory colorectal disease (colonic diverticular disease, Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis)
- Proctological disorders (haemorrhoids, fistulas, fissures, anorectal disease, prolapse)
- Pelvic floor disorders,
