Angiology centre: specialist consultations
- The patient's medical history is studied to identify both risk factors that may lead to vascular disease (lifestyle, family history of diabetes, hypertension, cholesterol, smoking, etc.) and to highlight the presence of symptoms typical of this condition. Often these symptoms are not obvious to the patient.
- Physical examination by palpation of the most accessible vascular areas and observation of certain body regions to highlight varicose veins or anomalous areas of reddening.
- Auscultation, if necessary, to check that the arterial pulse is correct and to detect the presence or absence of “hearts murmurs”, indicating a narrowing of the vessel or an abnormality in its course.
Angiology: available diagnostic tests
- Carotid and vertebral artery colour Doppler ultrasound
- Upper extremity arterial and venous colour Doppler ultrasound
- Lower extremity arterial and venous colour Doppler ultrasound
