The Cardiology Unit at Paideia International Hospital

The Cardiology unit at Paideia International Hospital provides a pathway that goes from cardiology examination, basic and stress ECG, CT scan of the coronary arteries and all the required medical tests for a complete diagnosis and assessment of heart health.

All major diseases of the cardiovascular system, both acquired and congenital, are professionally and competently addressed.

Main diseases treated by the Cardiology unit:

Targeted screening for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of all heart diseases. The cardiology service is divided into outpatientinpatient and home care.

Cardiology: diagnostic medical tests

The Holter pressure monitor is useful in diagnosing pulmonary arterial hypertension, necessary in white coat hypertension and labile hypertension, and indispensable for dynamically assessing the response to therapy, nycthemeral variability, acute hypotension and any hypertension, and the correlation between symptoms described by the patient and tension values.

The transthoracic echocardiogram, which is very useful in clinical practice, evaluates conformation, dimensions, heart wall thickness, segmental and total contractility, structure and function of mitral valve or prosthetic apparatuses, pressures, pericardium, etc.

The Transesophageal Echocardiogram is extremely useful in evaluating those patientsfor whom a transthoracic approach is impossible or insufficient (haemorrhagic strokes, endocarditis, intracavitary thrombi, ascending aortic aneurysm and thoracic aorta aneurysm, congenital or acquired abnormalities, heart valve prostheses, before electrical cardioversion of atrial fibrillation).

The stress echocardiogram is a provocative test of transient myocardial ischaemia that allows the physician to observe what changes occur in the heart when subjected to a stimulus or “stress”.

Cardiology: active Electrophysiology and Electrostimulation services

For arrhythmogenic pathologies, there is an Electrophysiology and Electrostimulation service with the possibility of admission in day hospital settings.

The service addresses any arrhythmogenic issue: from non-invasive diagnostics (Dynamic ECG) to syncope diagnostics (Tilt Table Test). We also fit pacemakers or implantable cardioverter-defibrillators.

The service also provides an outpatient programme for standard checks of implanted pacemakers or cardioverter-defibrillators.

The new Carto navigation system shortens the time of cardiac ablation procedures in the case of complex arrhythmias such as atrial fibrillation, with a significant reduction in the amount of radiation.
