The Vascular surgery unit at Paideia International Hospital treats obstructive and dilated diseases of the arteries and veins in various parts of the body (neck, chest, abdomen, upper and lower limbs).
Main vascular surgery pathologies treated
- Thoracic aortic, thoraco-abdominal and abdominal aortic aneurysms
- Iliac, femoral artery and popliteal arteries aneurysms;
- Carotid artery and subclavian artery stenosis
- Obstructive arteriopathies of the lower limbs (steno-obstructions of the aorta and iliac arteries, femoral and popliteal arteries and leg vessels)
- Stenosis and aneurysms of visceral arteries (celiac trunk, splenic artery, mesenteric artery)
- Arterial hypertension secondary to renal artery stenosis
- Varices of the lower limbs
- Varices of the lower limbs
- Vascular access for dialysis
Applied techniques
As far as arterial pathology is concerned, surgery is performed using both traditional open surgery techniques (prosthetic graft, bypass, endarterectomy) and modern minimally invasive endovascular methods (balloon angioplasty, stent placement, aneurysm exclusion with endoprosthesis), with the aid of state-of-the-art technology and instrumentation. In certain cases, innovative stem cell treatments are also applied for peripheral artery disease where surgical/endovascular revascularisation is not possible, and regenerative treatments to promote healing of trophic ulcers. In the area of venous pathology, in addition to the classicsurgical saphenectomy , modern laser or radiofrequency treatment techniques for varicose veins in the lower limbs are also performed.
Peripheral Endovascular Surgery
- Carotid artery stenosis treatment with angioplasty and stenting
- Subclavian artery stenosis treatment with angioplasty and stenting
- Endovascular treatment of Thoracic Aortic Aneurysm (TEVAR)
- Advanced endovascular treatment of Thoraco-Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (BEVAR, FEVAR)
- Endovascular treatment of Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm and iliac arteries (EVAR)
- Renal artery stenosis treatment with angioplasty and stenting
- Peripheral obstructive arterial disease treatment in the iliac-femoral-popliteal and below-the-knee district with angioplasty and stenting
- Diabetic foot treatment
